Thanks for your question. While it is not typical for a bruise to appear at 3 weeks out, it can happen. Sometimes deep bruises from the deeper dissection will appear several weeks after surgery. I would let your surgeon know as they may want to see you for a follow up appointment.
Today's SMAS facelifts do undermine facial structures that are below the skin and subcutaneous fat. If there is bleeding in this area a small clot can form. The bruising won't appear until the clot dissolves and the pigment can migrate into the more superficial subcutaneous tissue. That might take 2-3 weeks to occur. However, any unexpected postop bruising or bleeding should be with your surgeon.
Thanks for your question. I wouldn't say that is particularly common, but I doubt it's anything major to be concerned about. I would check in with your surgeon for him/her to take a look in person. Best wishes.
Any unusual bruising should be addressed to your surgeon. You may have had bleeding in the area. Best wishes for a nice recovery.

From your photos it does not appear to me that you have skin necrosis after your facelift. It looks like bruising that is commonly seen. However, please follow-up with your plastic surgeon.
Far more important than the technique is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. See the below link on some suggestions on finding the most qualified Plastic Surgeon for y...
Thank you for your question. Its always best to check with your surgeon as everyone will have different protocols. I only place a compression tape on for 24 hours after surgery. All The Best
Your results noted from your photo may be nicely improved with a platysmaplasty. Discuss with your ps the possibility of doing this procedure. Any charges would be between you and your surgeon. The separation that you have with the platysma muscle bands should be nicely improved, giving a...
