I had an open rhinoseptoplasty Jan 2021. My recovery was fine but as swelling subsided I brought up my nose not looking 100% right, the dr agreed a bone needed to be shaved down more on my left side so that was done Nov 2021. That was 9 months ago, my nose looks slightly crooked and I’m not sure if I still have swelling on that side he shaved or if he didn’t shave enough down. I’m trying to be patient but something feels off
Answer: Crooked nose after Rhinopasty surgery Hello and thank you for your question. Crookedness after rhinoplasty can be due to asymmetrical healing. During the healing process, scar tissue may form unevenly. In my opinion, you will benefit from revision surgery to correct the asymmetry. Best wishes.

Answer: Nasal deviation Thank you for your question and sharing your photograph. To begin with, selfies are relatively problematic when it comes to assessment of the nasal shape. By that I am not referring just to identifying problems but also the magnitude the problems which influences the therapeutic decision. If you want to have the photographs taken at home, I would suggest asking a friend to take the photograph so they are framed more accurately and to use an angle with the chin actor and as if you were looking towards the ceiling. If in this image (skyline view) you can see both the underside of the tip and the bridge it gives you a fair representation of the alignment. In general, having photographs like this taken by your surgeon is more helpful. In the image that you have uploaded one would imagine that it is difficult to significantly correct the situation with rasping the left side. The problem may actually be more limited with more accurate imaging. I think with more accurate photographs it would be worth having this conversation with your surgeon to identify how much of a problem there is and weather there is sufficient thickness in the nasal bones to control it by rasping on one side.

Answer: Why does your nose looks slightly crooked? Why does your nose looks slightly crooked? in some cases one or both of the nasal bones may appear prominent. If one is more prominent than the other it will create a slightly crooked appearance. In some cases this has to do with the height of the nasal bone which could be remedied by shaving it down or “Rasping“ it. But in some cases a bone which was in fractured during rhinoplasty my drift back outward or laterally creating a convex appearance to the nose on that side and a slightly crooked appearance to the nose overall. When that occurs Rasping alone is not sufficient. The bone must be re-in fractured if that is possible. In some cases if the septum between the two bones is crooked and does not allow one bone to be in fracture as much as the other and a small discrepancy in the width of the nasal bones may have to be acccepted. You should discuss with you a surgeon those issues.

Answer: Crooked Nose Hi there! When performing rhinoplasty, I do advise my patients that healing can take 9-12 months or longer. Sometimes, deviations can persist after the procedure. There could be swelling still present and, if so, taping, steroids, and compressions may help. If your surgeon determines that the deviation is still present, a revision procedure which may include osteotomies and straightening of the bridge of the nose with grafts may be needed.
