Hi, I'm in my 20's, fit & healthy, no smoking/drinking, never had surgery. I've contacted 8 surgeons, 6 said I'm a good candidate, 2 said no. One that said no said they don't think they'd make enough difference to warrant surgery, other said due to nose & skin structure there can't be much change. Why do you think they said no? Does my nose look suitable for rhinoplasty? I don't want slim defined nose, just shorter without droopy tip, nicer slope
Answer: Rhinoplasty I think you are a perfectly good candidate. I have no idea why two surgeons turned you down. It sounds to me perhaps those two surgeons don’t do many noses.

Answer: Rhinoplasty to change shape... It is certainly possible to make small changes to the nose. The tip can be refined and better supported so it won't droop as much. That would make a nice improvement while still looking completely natural. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Answer: Are you a good candidate for rhinoplasty? Are you a good candidate for rhinoplasty? your nose isn’t really that bad except when you smile. Some plastic surgeons feel that male noses should not be too small or upturned. Therefore, in a male with a nose which is not too big the potential problems are doing a conservative surgery and having minimal change or doing more surgery to have a greater change but overdoing it. there does not appear to be anything wrong with your nose as far as being a good surgical candidate other than that it isn’t that bad. Ironically some surgeons, myself included, find that people with big terrible looking noses are the best candidates because they get the most improvement and are the most satisfied. People whose noses are not that bad to begin with are sometimes disappointed that they don’t see much change.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Procedure Hello! From your description it does not sound like the 2 surgeons who declined to operate were doing so out of safety, they were doing so because of expected results. A good Plastic Surgeon weighs whether the results he/she can obtain from surgery can match the expectations of the patient. In my practice we often times decline to operate on patients if we feel they are going to be dissatisfied with what we are able to surgically do; that is going to lead to an unhappy patient who received surgery they weren't necessarily looking for. So I would not worry about the safety of the procedure in your case but if what you are asking for can surgically be performed. To that question, it is difficult to give you an answer without discussing how much lift you are actually looking for. I'm inclined to say that surgical intervention via a Rhinoplasty could definitely help to give you some lift on the tip of your nose. The question is how much are you looking for. I'd encourage you to bring in photos of your desired results during a consultation and ask your physician if he believes you can obtain that. Also, our practice uses a program called Vectra that provides realistic facial before and after for surgery. The physician can manipulate photos to give the patient an idea of what their results would look like. You may want to seek out a practice with similar technological capabilities. Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
