Question

I had a brazillian butt lift a year ago . I would still like more definition in my waste and flatter tummy . Not 100 % sure of tummy tuck because the scar . 1. I see mixed reviews on laser lipo . Where do plastic surgeons stand on laser lipo today. 2. Can you have laser lipo after traditional lipo. I understand that the cannula was smaller for procedure.

Like most procedures its not what the person is holding its who the person is, I like laser liposuction because I find the laser helps me break down scar in people who have had surgery or liposuction before and helps melt the fat which makes it come out easier, but it does not cause skin tightening

you can have liposuction performed multiple times even if you have had traditional or laser or any other type of lipo.  My suggestion is to see someone who specializes in revision cases or secondary cases as there is more risk for complications if not performed properly by someone experienced and specialized.  Also there is more scar tissue making the procedure more difficult, so you want someone specific and educated performing the procedure.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Yes, you certainly can. BUT, I would tell you laser lipo does not and will not give the results of a TT, and I also do lots of laser lipo in my practice.There is no other procedure that can shape your waist like a TT. I have never had a patient complain about a TT scar and wish she had never done the TT. Yes, sometimes I do perform scar revisions on TT patients but they are very happy with their results and always say they would do it again in a heart beat. It is certainly possible to have liposuction done more than once. Any technique can be used for the first and/or the second procedure.When someone comes to my office requesting liposuction for the second time, red flags immediately go off.If liposuction is done correctly, it should not need to be done again.In general, the biggest change is always made during the first procedure. That means expectations need to generally be lowered dramatically for significant improvements from a second procedure.You need to consult with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to see if there is room for improvement.Laser liposuction is neither good or bad. When applied correctly, it can lead to phenomenal results. When done incorrectly or on patients who are not good candidates, results will never be great.The size of cannulas has not changed for many years.The idea of microcannulas being 2, 3 and 4 mm is somewhat of a misnomer.We use the correct sized cannula for the job.
