Straight or curved nose? (photos)

Hi. A curved look to the nose (called a supratip break) is feminising on a man. If you still want a masculine look then straight is better. Similarly a chin implant will improve the masculine look. Regards. 

I am glad you posted your concerns, because that why we doctors are here: to help you. In your taping of your nose, you have cut into your forehead, unnaturally changing the root of the nose (where it begins, opposite your blink crease). This is what is throwing you off, making you think that an excessively curved nose would be attractive. In my opinion, producing a scooped result such as you have illustrated would be something you'd regret later in life. You need to find a nose shape that will age with you, will look natural from the start, and will harmonize with your own features. A chin implant in conjunction with your rhinoplasty can produce excellent results: you are on the right path here! I urge you to consult with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who will take the time to explain these issues to you, and can help you to decide the proper shape that will complement your overall facial structure.

What you want done is completely up to you.Rhinoplasty which typically starts at $5,500 depending on the area you live. To make sure you get the best possible result, the surgeon should perform a detailed exam of the nose and provide a realistic goal that you and your surgeon agree upon. Rhinoplasty are permanent, but with age facial features do change. Find a surgeon and go for a consult, I think you would benefit with a chin implant as well. 

I think for men it should be straight. The tape does not do it justice. usually women prefer a bit retroussé.  Best of luck.

 The photographs demonstrate a large dorsal hump with an overly projecting nose, and under projecting chin. A rhinoplasty procedure can address shaving down the dorsal hump, decreasing the projection of the nose along with narrowing the bridge and narrowing the tip. In our experience, we do not prefer a Curved nose profile on a man coma and would tend to leave the bridge straight. This can be accomplished with a closed rhinoplasty approach. A chin implant can be inserted at the same time through a submental approach to give better projection to the chin help with facial balance and  proportions, especially with respect to the overly projecting nose. Chin implants are manufactured in a large variety of shapes and sizes, and are placed through a submental approach. Computer imaging performed in the office setting would also be helpful to get an idea of what can be accomplished with both procedures. Hi, I have performed and taught Rhinoplasty for 30 years.  From the photos you are correct that your chin is weak which creates an imbalance making the nose look larger and the mid face appear top heavy.  Chin augmentation, using a chin implant, will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  I frequently combine this with Rhinoplasty.The nose has a dorsal hump, as seen on profile, with the high point in the area just above the nasal tip.  The proper amount of dorsal reduction should be performed, of both nasal bone and cartilage, to allow the nasal tip to be the highpoint on profile.  With men and certainly when the rest of the face is angular (cheeks, chin and jaw) this means leaning more towards a straight dorsum (scooped is more feminine) but with a definite supra-tip dip or break.  Hope this helps.

I think a male should not have a strong curve as you show as it is feminine. If that is your desire, then tell that to the surgeon.The other issue is that removing such a large portion of the dorsum, you have to hope your skin will conform to the new structure, without balling up into a  shapeless mass. At consultation, your doctor will give you a real assessment of what can be done to make the nose look good.
