How soon is it safe to do a genioplasty after after rhinoplasty due to tube from general anesthesia?

Im about 3 and a half months post op rhinoplasty. I read online genioplasty is usually done under general anesthesia either with a tube through the nose (which is why im concerned about compromising the rhinoplasty results) or orally though the mouth maybe. Is it ok to do genioplasty now or do I need to wait longer? What are my options?

I perform genioplasties in the office with intravenous anesthesia. No tube is placed. The surgery takes about an hour and will not change your bite. There is no need to wait.

One of the benefits of having a genioplasty at our surgical center is that we do not intubate patients. Although you will be sedated, you will be able to maintain your own breathing. All of the medications are given through an IV and we monitor your vitals throughout the surgery. You will be at a level of sedation where you will be comfortable and sleeping, but not deep enough where you lose your ability to maintain your respirations. It is safer to not intubate people, which is why we do it this way. On average, the surgery itself takes about an hour, but start to finish, you will be here for 2-2.5 hours. You will be able to walk out yourself relatively quickly, although we do require someone else drives you home.

Three months is plenty of time for your nose to be structurally healed in regards to having a nasal intubation if required.

Oral surgeons have different ways of doing anesthesia. They do a fair amount of work with local anesthesia with sedation but if required general anesthesia may be used as well.

The most definitive answer would come from the surgeon who did your rhinoplasty so if you’re not sure you should talk to that person.

I would think three months is plenty of time.
