Can I have 2 surgeries a month apart?

Question

I scheduled a breast augmentation which will either be under general or twilight sedation. I was thinking about scheduling a surgery for my chin (sliding genioplasty) for a month later which will be under twilight sedation. Would this be ok or should I space it out more?

At a month out, it is more about your comfort level. As long there are no complications or signs of infection after the breast surgery, and you consult with the surgeon, there is no reason why you couldn't have a genioplasty.

These are completely different surgeries and the use of a light anesthetic should allow for a rapid recovery. I think one month apart is fine. If you experience a longer recovery from the first surgery wait additional time.

If you are in good health and have no medical issues, you should be able to have the two surgeries a month apart. Your board certified plastic surgeons will be able to determine your candidacy for surgery and if you need more time to recuperate from the BAM before chin surgery.

Absolutely. You could have back to back surgeries even one day apart. These days anesthesia drugs and techniques are very safe on your body.

I suggest you ask each of the providers what their views are.

I’m assuming you’re planning on having two different surgeons do the procedures. Even if that’s the case sometimes procedures can be combined.  There’s no inherent need to wait any significant amount of time between surgeries other than if you have blood loss or surgeons feel you need time in between.

Personally I prefer some pectoral placement of implants and that is typically better done using general anesthesia.

There are surgeons who do sub pectoral augmentation with sedation alone but typically when augmentations are done without general anesthesia it often implies placing the implant above the pectoralis muscle.

That is a legitimate way of augmenting the breast but most plastic surgeons who do a lot of breast surgery seem to prefer subtectral for a number of reasons.
