I know they can be pinned back but I’m afraid that would make them appear pulled back and tilted even more. I want them to be more straight up and down. And my right ear has no fold on the top but my left does. This has just always bothered me and I hate wearing my hair up because of it.
Answer: Correction of ear "tilt" You may be a candidate for an otoplasty utilizing Mustarde sutures to recreate the superior crus of the antihelix. Otoplasty is a surgical technique used to correct prominent and/or asymmetric ears. Multiple techniques are used depending upon the goals of surgery. Results are immediate and noticeable. In your consultation with your surgeon, make sure you are very specific as to what bothers you about the appearance of each ear. Ears are complex structures. There isn't just one technique that addresses each issue. Seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced with external ear surgery. Good Luck!

Answer: Could otoplasty correct how my ears tilt back? Your question can only be answered if you also post photos of your ears from the back, in which one can see the distance between your ears and your skull.

Answer: I am sorry that you do not like the tilt of your ears but you're still well within what is normal. Otoplasty doesn't change the tilt and there really isn't any operation that does so if someone promises you that they can, please get it in writing. As for the lack of a fold on your right, when glancing at your left and right ears, nothing jumps out at me so I cannot appreciate it. Your helical rim may protrude a little more than what may be desired but is an operation with its costs and risks worth it for a small improvement? I would try to dissuade you from choosing surgery unless what is proposed will make a difference for you. Otherwise I encourage you to wear your hair up and if someone around you doesn't like it, too bad for them.
