Ears, when measured as the distance away from the scalp, should be within 3mm of each other. Too early to completely assess your result. Best not to attempt to change their position without the guidance of your PS. Good luck.

I would say it is not a universal practice with any clear benefit but a personal preference which we all have in our approach to surgery. I suggest you ask your surgeon for his/her reasons.
