I've had chin lipo on my double chin, but I'd like to remove some fat from the chin on my face. What kind of surgery would this be called? Where would the incisions be made?
Answer: Chin Liposuction for Fat Removal on the Front of the Chin Thank you for your question and for providing a photo for evaluation. Removing fat from the front of the chin area can be a bit more complex than traditional submental (double chin) liposuction, but it is certainly possible. The procedure you're referring to is often part of a broader category of facial contouring surgeries, and it can be specifically termed "chin liposuction" or "chin contouring." This procedure aims to sculpt the chin by removing excess fat and sometimes involves additional techniques to refine the overall shape of the chin. Procedure Details: Incisions: The incisions for chin liposuction are typically very small and strategically placed to minimize visible scarring. These are usually made just below the chin or inside the mouth. The exact placement can depend on your specific anatomy and the surgeon's approach. Liposuction Technique: Through these incisions, a small cannula (a thin tube) is inserted to carefully remove the excess fat. This is often done using a tumescent technique, where a solution is injected to minimize bleeding and discomfort. Recovery: Recovery from chin liposuction is generally quick, with most patients resuming normal activities within a week. Swelling and bruising are common but typically subside within a few weeks. It's important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or a facial plastic surgeon who has experience with facial contouring procedures. They can provide a detailed evaluation and discuss the best approach to achieve your desired results. Best regards,

Answer: Removal of soft tissue from the chin may result in visible irregularities. We do not typically remove soft tissue from the chin that has the Central Temple, on the front of the jawbone. Full face photos from multiple angles may be more helpful for demonstrating your concern. Thank you for your question. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Lipo chin I would not recommend liposuction of the front of the skin. The muscle is prominent and may be reduced with botox injections. If suctioned, there may be untoward dimpling in the area due to the muscle action.Hope this helps.

Answer: Chin surgery In general, it is not possible to perform liposuction on the chin itself. The chin is composed of fibrofatty tissue and muscles that contribute to animation. The bony chin can be reduced in several dimensions. The soft tissue pad is more difficult to reduce. I have been using deoxycholic acid to soften the chin pad.

Answer: How chin reduction is done Chin reductions are not done using Liposuction. It’s a procedure that is more commonly done by oral surgeons and usually has a skeletal and soft tissue components. Some plastic surgeons may also have experience with the procedure. It should not be attempted using Liposuction. Mats Hagstrom MD
