I had ThermiTight on my abdomen done the first week of March. There is a dime size, 1 cm deep burn hole on one part of my abdomen and the rest of my lower abdomen is lumpy. The lumps feel like that is where the cannula went. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Answer: Burns And Lumps After ThermiTight Lumps in the area of treatment after ThermiTight can be common especially on the abdomen. It is a result of the inflammatory response triggered by the treatment. It will resolve on its own with time. Massage can help. Burns are not normal occurrences, but can sometimes happen. You need to follow up with your provider so they can examine the area and treat as necessary to prevent scarring. Best wishes.

Answer: Side effects after a ThermiTight treatment Thank you for your question and I am sorry you received a burn during your ThermiTight treatment. Although that is a risk, it is much less likely when an experienced, board-certified physician performs the procedure. The lumps you feel are fairly common and will likely smooth out in the weeks following your treatment. However, I would follow up with your provider to ensure your burn is treated so it leaves minimal scarring behind.

Answer: Burns, no; lumps, yes Thank you for your question; I'm sorry you had a burn with ThermiTight. ThermiTight "shouldn't" cause a burn, but it can. I have a lot of experience with ThermiTight and I have had one patient who got a burn. In the case of my patient, she had had previous procedures in the area I was treating with ThermiTight and, therefore, had a lot of scar tissue. (Also, she forgot to mention to me that she had had any procedures done here, so I was unaware that there would be scar tissue.) I always counsel my patients that burns are very, very unlikely, but ARE possible complications. Usually, these burns will heal without scarring, but occasionally, they can leave a scar. One thing that can help the healing is PRP injections and microneedling of the burn after it has formed new skin. Lumps with ThermiTight are much more common and I tell my patients to expect those and to massage them periodically. These are areas of localized inflammation and swelling and they should all resolve on their own, given time. You should definitely inform your surgeon about the burn and get his or her advice on treatment of it.

Answer: Burn after ThermiTight--Consult your Doctor for aftercare Burns aren't typical with ThermiTight. I recommend following up with your Doctor for after care. I recommend silicone gel with growth factors and hyperbaric oxygen to promote healing. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Burn and lumps after ThermiTight Lumps are not uncommon after a ThermiTight procedure. These are areas of swelling and healing and resolve in a few weeks. A burn is much more uncommon and should be closely monitored by your physician. With good care it should heal, but may leave a scar. Good luck.
