How many sinus rinses can I do in a day? 4 days post-op rhinoplasty.

I had a rhinoplasty, septoplasty and turbine reduction 4 days ago. I used the sinus rinse but I never saw any mucus discharge come out, it did clean up a lot of dried blood in my nostrils though. It also made my right ear hurt. How often can I do the rinse? Will my ear hurt every time I use it?

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Sinus rinses can help keep your nose clean as it heals.#1) You can do a rinse 2-3 times a day. #2) Low pressure is best. High pressure can cause ear discomfort.#3) Keep it clean. Be sure to use clean water and let the bottle dry completely. You don't want to introduce bacteria to your healing nose.Keep your follow-up appointments so your surgeon can keep you on track for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.

Usually up to 3 times a day is plenty. As long as your surgeon wants you to be doing the rinses. Be sure to lean all the way over the sink looking down toward the drain. It should not be uncomfortable for your ears if your head is facing down far enough. Hope that helps!

Usually 2-3 times a day rinses are sufficient. Try not to rinse under a lot of pressure as the rinse may get into the ear through Eustachian tube and cause ear pain. Tilt your head down slightly when rinsing to minimize that.
