Hand wrinkles and orange peel skin? I would still like resurfacing to tighten the skin.

Question

In an effort to make my hands look younger I completed KTP for the brown spots and sclerotherapy for hand veins, however, I would still like a resurfacing to tighten the skin and make the "orange peel look" less noticeable, would love some advice... Thank You in advance for your time :D

You have a few options. Hands can be improved with fillers very easily, and I love combining this with fraxel laser to tighten and improve texture. Belotero and Radiesse give natural looking results.  I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist with expertise in hand rejuvenation to go over the recommended timeline.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser.  Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

Thank you for your question. I love to treat my patients hand wrinkles with Radiesse or Sculptra. It helps hands look significantly more youthful and hides wrinkles and hides old lady veiny hands. Additionally, the skin texture of your hands is just as important as your face. I always say hands and chest tell others your real age. There are great skin treatments for your hands. You can get an IPL or CO2 laser. You can also have a Resurfix treatment or Halo. If you do not want to have a laser, you can always have a chemical peel performed. I hope that helps. Good luck!

A fractionated CO2 laser series of three treatments is very effective at rejuvenating the hands.  The treatments are comfortable, quick, and have no down time.  The results are quite remarkable with reduction/removal of brown spots, improving skin quality and texture, and making the hands appear much more youthful.  It is one of the favorite laser treatments in our practice and the patients love it.

Thank you for your questions. There are several options for hand rejuvenation and an in-person consultation would be helpful. One great option is fat grafting. This provides a more youthful and full appearance to the hand and helps disguise tendons and veins in the area. You may want to consider Renuva.  This product is different than traditional HA fillers.  You will have some immediate benefit, similar to fillers, but the difference is that over time the product is gradually replaced by your own body fat.  This will give longer lasting results. Hi.  I would recommend Fraxel laser for resurfacing the skin on your hands.  I like to use Radiesse to add volume between the tendons to give a more plump youthful appearance as well.

Without photos it is impossible to tell what would help your hands. However, I love Fraxel and Thermage for hands to tighten and reduce wrinkles. Thanks for your question.  The skin on your hands ages in a similar fashion to the skin on your face or any other part of the body and is also equally affected by factors such as sun exposure, smoking, and genetics.  Other factors that affect your hands appearance as we age as muscle loss and fat loss that occur naturally with ageing.  If your hands are very thin-appearing with prominent veins, you would benefit from a filler to add volume to the tissue under the skin.  The can be an "off-the-shelf" product such as Radiesse, or something more permanent form your own body like fat grafting or PRP.  Similarly to the face, topical medications with retinol can improve skin texture and hydroquinone or other lightening agents can improve pigmented sun damage.  Laser resurfacing with a fraxel or other type of non-ablative laser can also be used to improve the texture and tone of the skin on your hands.  I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.  Best of luck!
