Cheek implants and buccal fat removal at same time will increase risk of an infection?

No, it doesn’t increase the chance of infection because good care is taken whenever we put an implant anywhere in the body. So if that is taken care of, you can go for cheek implant and buccal fat removal at the same time. 

In theory, there is no added risk as both spaces are sterile in nature and, sometimes, the buccal space can be accessed when placing a cheek implant (particularly some of the larger shell implants for width).  However, any concerns should be discussed with your surgeon as their particular approach to the buccal space as well as to the malar area needs to be discussed such that there is no risk of any complications.  I hope some of this helps! Best of luck!

In these cases, the risk of infection is the same as if the buccal fat pocket is not encountered. Therefore, theoretically, performing buccal fat removal at the same time of cheek implants should not increase the risk of infection if peri-operative prophylasix with antibiotics is follow.
