I am planning to get cheek implants and buccal fat removal (looking for a slim face look) This procedures together at the same time will increased the chance of the cheek infection? Thank you.

No, it doesn’t increase the chance of infection because good care is taken whenever we put an implant anywhere in the body. So if that is taken care of, you can go for cheek implant and buccal fat removal at the same time.

In theory, there is no added risk as both spaces are sterile in nature and, sometimes, the buccal space can be accessed when placing a cheek implant (particularly some of the larger shell implants for width).  However, any concerns should be discussed with your surgeon as their particular approach to the buccal space as well as to the malar area needs to be discussed such that there is no risk of any complications.  I hope some of this helps! Best of luck!

Chen performing cheek implant placement surgery or other craniofical surgery sometimes the buccal fat is "accidentally" accessed during the procedure. In these cases, the risk of infection is the same as if the buccal fat pocket is not encountered. Therefore, theoretically, performing buccal fat removal at the same time of cheek implants should not increase the risk of infection if peri-operative prophylasix with antibiotics is follow.
Patients interested in buccal fat removal at the same time of cheek implant placement should discuss about the risk of infection with the surgeon performing the procedures.
