Breasts turning green after augmentation and nipple colouring. What's causing it?

Question

I am confused that my fiances whole breasts have taken on a green colouration. The doctors believed that she had asked for her nipples to be green! and that chemical spread and started to kill the skin of the whole breast. This is certainly not true, her nipples were brown. Can the nipple pigment spread like this, would it change colour and would this kill breast skin? Or could this only be due to her hypovolemia and thinned breast skin, green indicating the earliest stage of necrosis?

Hello,An in-person exam would be required for good assessment of the situation. Green coloring can be a normal phase of bruise resolution...or perhaps a sign of other issues. I recommend that she visit her Plastic Surgeon.All the best

Photos would be helpful.  Black color is associated with necrosis or intense bruising.  Green and yellow colors are associated with bruising that is resolving.  Red with infection.  But there are other things that should be considered.   Do the nipples have sensation?  Are they warm to touch?  If yes, the tissues are viable. These are a few examples of things to consider.  You should seek a second opinion from another surgeon if your doctor is not responding as you would like.  Good luck.

It is difficult to say what the source of green discoloration is without photographs. The green color may be due to a bruise resolving around the nipple/breast, but if there is a black color this may be indicative of skin necrosis or loss. Please post pictures. Green color could be a color you see as stages go through after a bruise is healing. If your breast is turning green, blue or black that is concerning and you should see your surgeon as soon as possible.Good luck!
