One vape will not hurt the outcome. I tell my patients that smoking and vaping are variables that can impair healing with cosmetic surgery procedures. Breast augmentation is one procedure that requires only one small incision/breast, do the healing is not as complex. Healing is one issue, the other is coughing after surgery which you want to minimize. No more vaping, nice deep breathing and a healthy lifestyle before and after surgery, and you should be fine! Nicotine in any form should be stopped prior to surgery and throughout the recovery period. Nicotine use can lead to issues with infection and healing, among others. One use of the vape should not significantly impact your risk however this is something that you must discuss with your surgeon. She/He will make the final call.

If you vape, you are not "super healthy" because you are inhaling very toxic and harmful chemicals, worse than what is in cigarettes. Vaping is only nicer for others around you, but not for you. Please ask your surgeon if you can still have surgery.

Hello, I would recommend that the procedure be postponed for 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, one episode of inhaling tobacco returns an individual back to the starting point. Being free of tobacco during the4-6 weeks and refraining from tobacco during an equal time period postoperatively will decrease the risk of wound healing complications in addition to decreasing the risks of blood clots, infection and inflammation. The healthy habits you practice are beneficial for recovery but will not negate the detrimental tobacco effects.

You should be fine. While vaping (or anything you inhale) is bad for your lungs, a single episode this far from surgery will be fine and should not affect your surgical outcome.

We test our patients for Cotinine (a breakdown product of Nicotine) if they are having any sort of thin flap surgery like a TT, a breast lift or facelift. If they test positive, we cancel the surgery. I will do Blepharoplasty and Breast Augmentation on active smokers. All that said, the side effects of smoking and vaping (blood vessel constriction and contraction) go away by 2 weeks so as long as you don't give into impulse again, you should be fine.
