I recommend wearing a compression garment for 5-6 weeks after tummy tuck and liposuction. Many of my patients enjoy the support from the garment by 5-6 weeks and start to wear a second stage garment with a little less compression that the initial compression garment. They often wear this until the three month post operative point, and some wear this even longer, particularly during or after exercise. The 5-6 weeks is the most important time and the remaining time is usually optional. Your surgeon cna recommend specific timing for you, based on your healing.Best of luck to you.
Thank you so much for your question. A good Compression after these procedures is always mandatory, in that way you can avoid to have complications as seroma etc. I always recommend to be at least 3 month as minimum with your second garment because the material is more strong and give you the right compression, but every doctor has their own protocol. Please consult with your doctors office their protocol and follow their instructions that will guarantee you good results with no complications. Hope this helps. Dr. Quiroz
Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta explains how long a compression garment may be worn after a tummy tuck and liposuction surgery.Although each surgeon has their own recommendation, typically 4- 6 weeks of garment therapy is recommended.
Every surgeon has different preferences for compression. Follow your surgeons instructions. Personally I have my patients wear a garment I provide for the first 3 weeks. Then they can switch to a Spanx type garment for 3 additional weeks. There is no maximum amount of time. If patients are still swollen they can continue especially when working out. The biggest thing is to make sure there are no seams (or bones) which can create permanent depressions or creases.
Thank you for your question. I recommend wearing a compression garment for 6 weeks following tummy tuck surgery. Marena makes quality post operative support garments. You should also follow your plastic surgeon's advice regarding level of physical activity and use of a compression garment. Hope this helps!
My patients typically wear the garment as much as possible for six weeks. Should the swelling resolve faster than usual, they will opt for a smaller size garment. I have received no complaints about wearing the garment other than its itchy quality. Wearing a soft t-shirt under it resolves this problem.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
This really depends upon your surgeon's postop instructions. I typically instruct my patients to wear their compression garment for at least 6-8 weeks. Often times, the patients like the garment so much that they will continue wearing for additional weeks. Just remember that the more you wear it initially, the quicker the swelling will resolve. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. It's best to follow your surgeons specific advice post-operatively. I recommend my patients to wear compression garments for around 5 to 6 weeks. The first week should be worn 24/7 taking it out only for showers. The rest of the weeks should be worn as much as possible, specially when doing physical activities.
In my practice I ask my patients to use it for 6 weeks, I do not like 2nd, stages fajas because their only use is to avoid inflamation during the first weeks after surgery. The I ask them to begin exercise, mainly abdominal to get back tonicity to the muscles.
To achieve the best possible results from your procedure, I recommend to wear compression garments for at least six to eight weeks during the post-op phase. The length of time you should wear your garment will depend on several factors, and your surgeon should provide you with a complete post-op recovery plan.
