I got 1ml of Juvederm for the first time on my lips today and they've swollen up completely on one side with a lot of bruising. Is this normal? I've been putting ice on it and have taken some antihistamines. Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process. I'm freaking out!
Answer: Lips Swollen post Juvederm Filler Thank you for your question. This is actually a very common side effect. The swelling should resolve within a few days. Please see your surgeon 1 - 2 weeks post to assure all is healing well.

Answer: Swelling and Bruising after Lip Augmentation Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling and bruising after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can apply cold compresses to the area to help reduce swelling and bruising. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling. If you have any other concerns please contact your treating physician. Best of Luck!

Answer: Bruising after Juvederm Thank you for your question. While this is on the extreme side, swelling and bruising is expected after lip injections. The extent of the bruising and swelling has a lot to do with technique but also what you did prior to the injections. If you had any alcohol, advil, vitamin supplements, aspirin, etc within a few days of the injection, there will be more bruising and swelling. I would follow up with your injector and also take arnica to reduce the swelling.Best,Ariel Ostad MD PC

Answer: Swelling Post Lip InJections A very common side effect with lip injections is swelling and bruising which may last for hours or a few days. During this recovery time, the lips may appear uneven. If this unevenness does not improve after one week, I would consult with your injecting physician to reevaluate the product placement

Answer: Swelling normal after lip fillers? yes, this is not unusual. I think that cannulas make for less bruising and swelling than sharp needles
