Could the leak in my saline implant cause me to have seizures?

My right breast has a leak " Saline implants" I am having surgery March 19th. I am undergoing studies for seizures. I do not have convulsions are loose time I just have da ja vie and scared feeling. Had eeg and it showed a spike. The meds did not set well with me so more studies to see whats causing it. I have anxiety disorder. They do not know if stress is causing these are not but have to wait for neuropsychologist test results before treatment. my concern is can the surgery cause seizures.

The saline used to fill breast implants is the same as you would get in an intravenous so there is no reason it should cause medical issues of any type in the event of a leak. Many years ago before the use of closed fill systems became the standard, there were a few cases reported of fungal growth in implants because the saline was left in an open container before filling. I have not heard of a case of this in more than 20 years and it seems very unlikely to be related.

Assuming your implant space is sterile and the implants were filled with sterile saline, I am not sure how the "leaking" could be causing your physical condition. I would think that if there was something harmful around or inside the implants you would be having a more serious reaction. If everything else has been ruled out, removing the implants is obviously the next step. Best of luck!

Surgery to replace your implant should not cause seizures, however, the stress of surgery and certain medications could lower your seizure threshold.The surgery could be performed using IV sedation which may have less risk of triggering a seizure.

I have had several patients with defective saline implants with seizure disorders that resolved post explantation with total capsulectomy, antifungals, and biotoxin detoxification (the biotoxin is a neurotoxin).  The anxiety is due to a GABA deficiency and is treated with the above as well as Gabatrol supplementation.  You should be on some anti-seizure medication around the time of surgery as well.
