Hello, Is it possible to sever the nerves that supply sensation to the nipples? I have been experiencing nipple pain for several years since my breast reduction surgery. The pain began immediately post op. Thank you, Tracy

I would suggest meeting with a pain clinic physician because they can inject the area to help decrease the pain. They may try something temporarily first before doing the permanent injections just to see if it will work.

I'm sorry to hear of the persistent nipple pain you've been experiencing.  In short, yes it is possible to sever the nerves to the nipple but there may be less aggressive ways to help you.  Some patients respond well to tactile desensitization or medication.  I encourage you to meet with your surgeon about your concerns.  She/He may also refer you to a pain management physician.

Hello, in the case of increased sensitivity after a breast reduction, in some cases it is expected and can be managed with gabapentin and b complex. In some other cases, laser therapy is added to the areas to improve the healing process and the discomfort is reduced or eliminated. I hope you consider this opinion.
