Why do I look like the grinch after my first Dysport/Botox treatment ever?

Hello and thank you for your question.  It is best to wait 10-14 days after your treatment to make sure the effects of the neurotoxin is fully active throughout the muscle.  If after that point you still feel like your brows are too peaked (which is what I'm assuming you mean by "the Grinch"), have your injector place a couple of units high above the arch of each brow (close to the hairline).  This will help soften your brows.  It is also good to know that the first few weeks after getting Botox/Dysport, the heaviness and/or stiffness you may experience does let-up and you will feel more like yourself.  The effects do wear off completely by 3 or 4 months.  Best of luck!

It sounds like this is due to your Dysport placement. A touch-up may give improvement. However, it does take up to 2 weeks for final results. I would wait a full 2 weeks before assessing the need for a touch-up. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question! As stated by your dermatologist, I would wait 2 weeks to allow the Botox to settle in and work completely. Your forehead muscle controls how you lift your eyebrows. Botox works to paralyze this muscle is certain areas to allow subtle eyebrow moment and minimal wrinkles. There is a chance there was not enough Botox used and your lateral forehead is pulling your eyebrows up too high... causing you to look like Spock or The Grinch. If you are still unhappy in 2 weeks, I would return to your dermatologist. The affects of Botox last for 3 months, so your eyebrow and softness will return. 

Botox results take up to 1-2 weeks. I would wait up to 2 weeks before assessing results. Botox results last up to 3-4 months in new areas of treatment and can be softened with venus legacy treatments. See an expert. Dr. Emer

It can take up to two weeks to see your final results after neuromodulator injections. If needed you can return at that time for a touch up to try to improve your results. The effects of neuromodulators are temporary and will wear off gradually typically over three to four months.

Dysport locks the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which triggers the muscle contractions that create wrinkles. Dysport essentially paralyzes the muscles and stops them from contracting. Results from these treatments are visible within 3-7 days with results that can last anywhere from 3-4 months. Follow up with your injector should you have further questions or concerns. It is somewhat difficult to determine the issue without photos, however, I suggest waiting at least ten days so the full effect of the filler can take effect and then reassessing your result. If you are still unhappy, please return to your physician for followup.

Sorry to hear you’re having a bad experience with your injections. Please know that it can take up to two weeks for the product to soften, revealing your final outcome. I would recommend waiting at least that long before assessing your results. If you’re still not happy with your appearance after two weeks, talk with your provider about your options. Unfortunately, neuromodulators aren’t able to be reversed, but adding more of the product may help to create a smoother look if needed. Best of luck.

While Dysport can sometimes work a little faster, Botox takes about 2 weeks for the full results to show and for the swelling and bruising to return to normal.  Some of this could be due to swelling and it will be best to wait until the swelling has gone down to clearly see what the effects of your treatment are.  If you still have concerns about your treatment after the two weeks, I would recommend scheduling a follow up visit with your provider to go over your results.  

The best thing to do is follow up with your injector. They could soften the look by adding more units when it's 2 weeks after the initial injection. If more units are not recommended then the next step is waiting 3-4 months til the product dissipates.
