Masseter muscle Dysport injection: will this bulge go away?

This is difficult to answer without pictures. It can take up to 2 weeks for final results after Dysport. I would wait a full two weeks before assessing results. If this is due to your treatment, Dysport results are not permanent and will resolve in 3-4 months. Hope this helps.

Hi,Thank you for your question.It's difficult to tell without evaluating you in person but based on your description, it sounds like there are still some areas of the masseter that have not been fully relaxed with the dysport treatment as it only appears when your eating (and using the muscle). It's best to follow up with your injector at 2 weeks. You may need additional units. However, if you choose not to do anything, your muscle should return to baseline after the dysport wears off.Hope this helps!

What you are describing could be a localized reaction to the injection, or residual swelling. That being said, typically swelling from a neurotoxin resolves within a matter of minutes as the liquid injected is absorbed, so what you are describing is unusual. Dysport will take two weeks to fully take affect, and will wear off over the course of 2-6 months. Any atrophy of the masseter muscle will resolve over the months to follow, as the muscle rebuilds and strengthens. Therefore this is not a permanent result. Cheers. Sarah RN BSN
