Hi Ria,Though metal implants are a contra-indication to having Emsculpt, many physicians have treated patients with titanium implants as titanium does not heat from electromagnetic energy. Check with your lumbar surgeon to make sure that you have no metallic implants. If your surgeon allows you to have a MRI after your back surgery then you should be safe to have Emsculpt treatments. Good luck and be well.Dr. PEncino, CA
EMSculpt should not be able to penetrate deep enough to heat up lumbar screws, but per the company, it is a contraindication. Make sure you have a discussion with your physician to make sure you both feel it's safe to do. Andrew Campbell, M.D.Quintessa
This shouldn't interfere with your Emsculpt treatment however, this is why a consultation is mandatory before performing this type of treatment. Consult with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hello, thank you for your question. Although metal implants are considered a contraindication for the Emsculpt treatment, certain offices have been treating patients with Titanium implants off-label. Therefore, you may be able to do the treatment with the titanium screws. Please seek a certified health care provider to determine if you are an ideal candidate for the treatment.
Hi, thanks for your interesting question. The company line is that Emsculpt should not be performed when there are metal implants in the body. The risk is not that metals will become heated, but rather that they will move and become displaced. However, most physicians will exercise medical judgement regarding true risks and benefits of this scenario. Emsculpt will only reach as far down as 7 cm under the skin so you would actually have to be quite thin for the EM energy to reach your spine. An in-person consultation with an Emsculpt provider would be needed to make the final determination.
The manufacturers of Emsculpt state that any kind of metal implantable device is contraindicated including metal in the spine. However, up to the providers discretion you may be able to treat. The device penetrates up to 7cm so depending on your body type it may not be able to reach the plane of your metal screws. The best way to find out if you are a candidate is through a consultation with a board certified provider. Best of luck!

Hello,Thank you for your question. While treating with EmSculpt during a menstrual cycle is not a contraindication we do not recommend doing so. It can increase the symptoms of your period and make the treatment much more uncomfortable than it actually is. Best of luck with your future treatment.
Most don't want to lose fat from their buttocks, so BTL made a separate protocol that only builds muscle. It will just provide more of a lift! Good luck!
Hi Peaceful,Emsculpt is contra-indicated in patients with pacemakers. There is not a contraindication for treating patients with SVT (supra-ventricular tachycardia). To be on the safe side I would advise consulting with your heart doctor for clearance prior to your Emsulpt treatment. Good lu...
Emsculpt will build muscle mass and reduce fat in patients who are dieting. The treatment will add to the benefits of your diet, exercise, and weight loss program. Good luck and be well.Dr. PEncino, CA
Everyone should benefit from Emsculpt to a degree. Your provider may not have explained proper expectations in detail. You'll notice peak results anywhere between 2-6 months after treatment due to the way your body breaks down fat and builds muscle. 4 is the minimum recommended sessions, so ...
