Can I get Emsculpt while on my period?

Hello,Thank you for your question. While treating with EmSculpt during a menstrual cycle is not a contraindication we do not recommend doing so. It can increase the symptoms of your period and make the treatment much more uncomfortable than it actually is. Best of luck with your future treatment.

It's ok to have the Emsculpt treatment during a menstrual cycle. You may experience more cramping during and after the treatment, however, your menstrual cycle will not effect your results in any way.

Hi Gentle,We advise our female Emsculpt patient to try to schedule their abdominal Emsculpt treatments around their menstrual cycle, though it is not an absolute contra-indication.  There is the risk of increased cramping, flow, and discomfort when treating patients with Emsculpt who are menstruating.  Treating the buttocks while menstruating is safe. The manufacturers of EMSculpt (BTL) do warn that treatment can inadvertently stimulate uterine muscle contraction. This can temporarily worsen cramping and flow. This is not an absolute contraindication (meaning it is safe). However, patients should be made aware of these issues so as not to be caught off guard.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

EMSculpt should not effect your period at all, and is perfectly safe to have while you are having it. EMSculpt causes hyper-contractions of the abdominal and / or buttock muscles and builds them creating increased core strength, less abdominal fat, a slimming of the midsection, or when treating buttocks, and enhanced and lifted butt (EMSculpt doesn't make butt fat disappear).Andrew Campbell, M.D.Quintessa

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, you are able do do an Emsculpt treatment while on your period. 

It's possible but it might be more uncomfortable than usual. Emsculpt causes a significant contraction of the abdominal muscles using electro magnetic energy. If you're experiencing menstrual cramping at the time of your treatment, it may exacerbate your symptoms. You should not have any additional discomfort if you are treating your buttocks with Emsculpt.

The emsculpt treatment can increase your flow, cramps and discomfort during the treatment. Please seek a certified health care provider to evaluate the proper protocol for you.

Emsculpt on the abs during your period is not a contraindication; although we generally advise our patients to try and schedule their visits during a time when they are not experiencing it. We tell them this as their have been reports of increased discomfort in the lower abdominal area along with greater flow, cramps, etc... Best of luck!!

Thanks for your question! We've seen a wide variance in our female patients regarding this - one who has endometriosis says the EMSCULPT the day before her period made it the first manageable period she's had in a year. Others have said that it made the cramps worse, and some say it made the cramping better. Ultimately, it's up to your period specifics (as you know, everyones experience is different), and your ability to stop the treatment and reschedule if it's uncomfortable to intolerable.Best of luck!
