Thank you for your question regarding how long to wear a garment after a belt lipectomy or 360 circumferential lower body lift. At minimum, I would suggest you wear your garment for six weeks after your body lift. If you continue to have swelling after six weeks, you need to continue wearing your garment. After the initial six weeks, you may experience increased swelling after exercise. I would encourage you to wear your garment during periods of exercise or anytime you notice swelling. The garment after a body lift should extend from underneath your rib cage to either mid-thigh or mid-calf. The garment serves multiple functions. The post-operative garment helps to reduce swelling and accelerate healing. The garment may make you feel more secure and often makes my patients feel like they're not going to pop open. Also, the post-operative garment helps to flatten scars. As the swelling goes down, please be aware that you may need a smaller garment. Please always be in contact with your board-certified plastic surgeon to be sure your garment is tight enough. I hope this answers your question on how long to wear a garment after a body lift. If you have any questions regarding wearing a garment after a body lift, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr.Katzen.
Thank you for this question. My protocol calls for compression garments for 6 months. Your plastic surgeon probably have their own protocol. I suggest you use your plastic surgeon as a resource on this subject.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)
I generally require my patients to wear compression for 4 weeks around the clock (except for showers) and then 1/2 days for a few weeks. Many of my patients like the feeling and support the garment gives them.
I require my patients to wear a compression garment around the clock (except for showers) for the first six weeks following surgery. Because the body lift is a combination of procedures, it is important for you to rest and allow your body to heal properly. Following post-operative instructions to the letter will help ensure the best possible outcome and reduce the chances of complications. It is always best to talk with your own surgeon, as everyone has different protocols, and follow-up appointments will allow them to gauge your healing process.
Patients in my practice wear their compression garment for six weeks after surgery.
