Thank you for your question regarding age restrictions for elective, reconstructive, plastic surgery procedures after presumably, massive weight loss resulting in excess skin and fat. There are no restrictions in terms of age for elective, reconstructive, plastic surgery for skin reduction. The more important question is your health. If your health is good and you have been medically cleared by your internist or GP, then I believe you will be minimal risk for postoperative complications. However, if you do have significant medical problems, regardless of your age, you may not be cleared for surgery and could potentially could have significant problems after surgery. It is best to consult with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. Approval for plastic surgery for excess skin by Medicare is very difficult. I would suggest you discuss all your options with your plastic surgeon. I hope this answers your questions regarding age limits for elective plastic surgery for skin reduction. In addition, I hope that answers your question regarding Medicare coverage for reconstructive plastic surgery procedures after weight loss. If you have any further questions, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr.Katzen.
There are no specific age limits on cosmetic surgery procedures. The more important questions are am I healthy enough to have anesthesia and for what length of time. The next critical question is what procedures am I a good candidate for. For my massive weight loss patients I like to rank it in order most profound benefit first. For most patients the abdomen is the area that provides the greatest overall improvement so I generally recommend starting there. The next best is the breast/chest procedures. Next I would rank arm lifts and a distant 4th place would go to thigh lifts. And your final question is does insurance cover these procedures and the answer is that they almost never cover these procedures for body contouring if they are submitted honestly and the last thing you want is someone who is so desperate for cases that they are willing to submit something unethical. Best of luck on your journey,
There are no age restrictions for surgery long as you are fit and healthy. Arrange a consultation with a fully qualified plastic surgeon to discuss your suitability and get an estimate of fees and potential rebates.
Good afternoon and thank you for your question!, no Aggie, there is no age limit to perform a surgical procedure, what is needed is for the patient to have a good health in order to undergo surgery. Cosmetic Surgery is not covered by Medicare.
Thank you for your question. There is no age limit for skin reduction surgery. In montreal , to know if your case will be covered or not, you must submit special forms and photos and wait for approval. If not approved you will need to have surgery at your own expenses. This can be discussed with your board certified plastic surgeon depending on your geographical location. Best of Luck to you
There is truly no age limit to cosmetic surgery, and that goes for skin reduction surgery or abdominoplasty. Your question regarding insurance and/or Medicare coverage for such surgery. In my experience, it is difficult to prove medical necessity for body contouring surgery. It is often difficult to prove that a tummy tuck is necessary.
There is no age lift for surgery as long as you are healthy, and you seek a board-certified surgeon with hospital credentials. Your surgeon may require medical clearance from your internist to make sure that you receive the best peri-operative care. Medicare's coverage will depend on the reason for the surgery and documentation of functional problems may require documentation.
Thank you for your question. There is no age limit for surgery but general health is really important. Generally medicare will not cover cosmetic surgeries.
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. There is not an age limit for skin reduction surgery. Medicare will sometimes cover this surgery, but you need to check with your surgeon. Not all surgeons will accept medicare, in particular for body contouring surgery. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. Any treatment plan should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation in person with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
