Belly button piercing after lower bodylift?

Thank you for your question regarding bellybutton piercing after a belt lipectomy or 360 circumferential, lower body lift.  Certainly, "yes" you can have your bellybutton pierced after the body lift. I would wait till everything is healed and your plastic surgeon is comfortable with the belly button piercing. Usually, when my patients want their bellybutton pierced, we wait at least six weeks after the body lift procedure.  I don't trust anyone else with piercings of the surgical area.  Therefore,  I perform the belly piercing procedure in the office.  Since you said your belly button or umbilicus was previously sacrificed during a procedure, a new bellybutton may need to be created during the body lift. Technically, this it is not too difficult to  create a new bellybutton. However every patient is different. Whether it is a new bellybutton or old belly button, you can still get a belly button piercing, 6 to 8 weeks after the body lift. A belly button ring after plastic surgery is always the sign of a happy patient :). You should be able to get your new belly pierced several months after your body lift once the tissue has softened. I generally want my patients to wait at least 3 months before considering. This is a good questions to ask you surgeon during one of your postop visits.

Thank you for your question, reckless18. In my opinion I would not recommend that any patient puts a piercing on their navel after a body lift surgery. 
Why?, because after the medical procedure the abdomen is still in a state of recovery and disinflammation and this could cause a piercing rejection. 

Congratulations on getting your body lift.  Your surgeon will reconstruct what they can of the belly button and after you are healed, doing another piercing will be possible.  Discuss this with your surgeon but I have a lot of patients that get another piercing after tummy tucks or body lifts without any problems.  I hope this helps.
