Rippling, 10 weeks post-op. Will this relax? (Photo)

More detail: I had 295/310 inspira implants under the muscle. It’s been about 10 weeks post op, wit this rippling relax ? I had very little breast tissue to start with mostly muscle. This doesn’t happen all the time only when lying on my side or leaning forward or in other random positions.

Thank you for your pictures and questions. Unfortunately, in patients who have very thin covering over the implants, rippling can be a concern. And often, as time goes on and the swelling goes away, rippling can get worse rather than better. The options to improve this would be to improve the covering over the implant with mesh (ADM) or fat grafting. Or the other option is to try an implant with the least amount of rippling potential like a highly cohesive gel implant. Even with all these methods, there is no assurance that rippling will not continue to be a concern.Hope this helps!

Inspira implants ripple less than previous versions because the gel fill ratio is higher, but some rippling is unavoidable where tissue cover is thin. The newer versions with firmer gels (Soft Touch and Cohesive) ripple less but may not look or feel as natural because of the firmness. You could add coverage with Galaflex mesh or ADM such as Strattice. Sometimes fat grafting can help also.

Unfortunately that rippling you see may not go away. It may be treatable using a tissue matrix or galatea mesh, as well as changing to a more cohesive implant. However, if it is only in certain positions I am not sure I woudl do anything about it at least not yet. See what it looks like in six months

Thank you for including pictures. Skin and soft tissue are thinnest in the upper medial pole of the breast--this is where the implant edges are more visible. Once postoperative swelling resolves (1 mo after surgery usually) the implant swill continue to descend in the 3-6 mo that follow. Implant visibility medially usually does not improve. We sometimes employ fat grafting to better conceal implant edges. Address this with your surgeon to see what your options are.
