Nose is messed up looking after septoplasty. How can I get my nose back? (Photo)

Question

I had sinus surgery including a septoplasty, turbinate reduction and removal of polyps from sinuses. My nose after the surgery is horrible looking. It looks wide, flat and is shorter. I even have a bump on my profile now. I am very upset about how I look. I never wanted a nose job, but now I do just to get back my original nose. I often cry about how I look. What did the surgeon do to me? And how do I get my nose back?

Without the front view it is difficult to assess wideness. If the nose is wide, then it can be narrowed during revision rhinoplasty. The bump can also be taken down as well. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation and computer imaging.

If you want to figure out what your surgeon did while you were asleep, you can procure a copy of your operative report. Sometimes, when we correct the deviated nasal septum, the ligaments that normally extend from the bottom of the bridge to the nasal tip can become disrupted. Sometimes this can result in a droopy nasal tip appearance that can make the appearance of a profile bump worse. There are a few things we need to know. First what did your nose look like before. And was the surgery intended to only improve breathing or was there any discussion at all regarding altering the appearance.  Septoplasty alone should not affect the appearance

There is no real reason that the procedures that you describe should structurally effect the external appearance of your nose.  If your surgery was recent, it may just be swelling.  Follow up with your surgeon for an examination, discussion and review of before and after photographs if available.  Good luck!

Much more information is needed, such as a full set of facial and nasal photographs from before and after your surgery, in addition, a copy of the operative report to find out what was accomplished in your procedure. A rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump, narrowing the bridge line and making out any other required changes necessary
