Ribs protruding - can this be corrected?

Question

Now that I have lost over 100 pounds, I can see that something strange happened to my ribs. Perhaps this happened due to pregnancy plus being extremely obese? Is there anything that can be done? I have never heard anyone else complain about this. I am planning to have high volume liposuction (my remaining weight is in the hips/thighs) and skin removal as well; do surgeons deal with this too?

I would not recommend any procedures for your ribs. 
 Select a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of 
liposuction procedures each year.  Look for great reviews and great 
before

Interestingly with patients that have massive weight loss, it is fairly common to see this in patients. I think it is something that patients who were originally heavy had as the body adjusted to the weight gain, and this becomes more apparent with the weight loss.

If indicated, lower rib removal can be done. It is scarless to do during a tummy tuck but can also be done through small external incisions as well.

Congratulations on the weight loss!  There are things that can be done for protuberant ribs and these things can be done at the same time as you have liposuction and/or excision of your excess skin.  In order to say exactly what can be done, you would need to be evaluated by a surgeon.  Make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon to help you.I hope that helps.  Best regards,
