I am looking to get rhinoplasty done and I had a few consultations in Turkey (I'm from London). I am drawn to one surgeon but he doesn't seem as qualified as others with only one board certificate. What is the importance of a board certificate in Europe?
Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello, Thank you for your pictures and the question. In my opinion, the choice of a plastic surgeon is an integrated approach. Every aspect is important. Certification of a doctor is certainly very important, but the choice on the basis only papers could be wrong. The number of certificates recognized by one or another countries doesn't speak about the professionalism of a doctor. The patient and the doctor are one team on which the end result depends. Be sure to ask the doctor to show you his real work with a similar nose. Best of luck and take care! Best Regards, DR CEM PAYASLI MEMBER OF INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF AESTHETIC PLASTIC SURGEONS.

Answer: Rhinoplasty in Turkey? Sure, But have you considered Austin, Texas - Similar climate I don't know anything about the certification process in Europe or Turkey. Having said that there are excellent plastics surgeons and excellent rhinoplasty surgeons in Turkey. A lot of amazing innovations come out of Turkey. I always learn a lot from Turkish presenters at rhinoplasty meetings. I think there must be something in the water. Having said that, you need to do your due diligence just as you would in any country. There also are very qualified and dedicated surgeons in Austin, Texas, USA - I can think of at least one (wink, wink). So, if you are interested in a transatlantic process, I am happy to help you. You wouldn't be my first patient from England.Follow me on IG @happinessplasticsurgery

Answer: Rhinoplasty Claims of board certification by multiple boards mean absolutely nothing in the United States. Many surgeons have a second board certification from a board that is not recognized as a legitimate board. At least that’s how it is in the United States. You need to figure out what certain boards mean as far as their training and certification requirement. I am certified by only one board, but it’s the one that matters most, at least in my opinion.

Answer: Finding the right surgeon for rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. It is very important that you thoroughly research your surgeon before committing to surgery. It is a good idea to research your surgeon's educational background, board certification, online reviews, before & after pictures, and speak with anyone who you may know who has had surgery with that surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. If you cannot find enough real before and after pictures, then consider continuing your search for a surgeon. During your consultation, make sure that you don't feel rushed and make sure that you have adequate time with your surgeon and not just their patient coordinator or nurses. If the majority of your consultation is spent with someone other than the surgeon, this is usually not a good sign. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Should I get rhinoplasty with a surgeon with only one board certification in Turkey? If you live outside of the United States, the surgeon should ideally be a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). There are excellent rhinoplasty surgeons in Turkey with those credentials. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
