I want a shorter more narrow nose.. I've been looking into it for several years.. but mainly all rhinoplasty pics I've seen and reviews I've read are about girls who aren't sure of the outcome due to uneven nostrils and visible scars.. looking forward to advise

You are a good candidate for a rhinoplasty. This would involve barely noticeable incision across the bottom base of the nose (columella). Usually rhinoplasty makes the nostrils more symmetric, but nothing is 100% perfect in any type of surgery.

Hello and thank you for your question. You are a very good candidate for rhinoplasty. Because your nose is such a visible part of your face, it is important to consult with an experienced surgeon who specializes in plastic surgery. 
In your case, the hanging columella can be raised, nasal wings can be shortened, nostrils can be smaller and overall appearance can be changed to give it more definition while maintaining its natural look. The one thing I notice in rhinoplasty surgery is a tendency to leave the nose too long. It’s pretty straightforward to shorten the nose yet many surgeons fail to do this, especially in a case like yours. I would do a closed rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty often doesn’t include a strategy to shorten the nose that works as well.

I use both closed and open techniques depending on the individual patient’s needs and perform rhinoplasty as an outpatient procedure under IV sedation. Rhinoplasty options: making a nose shorter and more narrow is a common goal in standard rhinoplasty. If you are afraid of scars then you might consider a closed rhinoplasty which leaves no scar across the columella. Also you may wish to avoid a nostril tuck since this also leaves external scars and may cause nostril asymmetry if it does not already exist.
