I had my initial rhinoplasty in 2010. After, my nose had a lot of asymmetry and after 5 years there was a piece of cartilage poking me and I was getting random nose bleeds. I had a revision 11 months ago and stressed that I wanted to look like me. The day of surgery the doctor told me he was going to raise my bridge, I could have walked out and not got my money back, but I chose to stay. I look like a completely different person, and not in a good way, and my nostril collapses when I exercise.

Hi @Loving2405! I'm sorry you are dealing with complications. I would generally recommend waiting a year before having a revision to make sure swelling has subsided. Considering this is a revision and you have thick skin, you may benefit from waiting a bit longer. Best of luck to you!

Generally, you want to wait at least a year after an unsatisfactory rhinoplasty before having a revision. This is to help ensure that swelling has resolved and scar tissue has softened enough to perform the revision surgery. Since this is already after a revision and you have thick skin, you may benefit from longer than a year. In person examination is important here and will be very helpful in making the distinction if your swelling has resolved enough and your nose has softened enough to be ready for revision.

Good Morning! Sorry that you're having trouble with your outcome. If it's been 11 months, you're close to the period when a revision can be considered. The biggest determinant is the degree of swelling left. If your nose has been stable, it's probably OK to proceed. I see what you're referring to. Your nose can be changed to a more favorable appearance. Cartilage grafting to create a strong foundation will be essential. This will help the breathing - especially when you exercise. I would seek consultation with a Facial Plastic Surgeon who performs revision rhinoplasties to see what course of action would be best for you. Hope this helps you!
