How safe is it to get fillers in the trough? I was told by one doctor that this procedure could obstruct blood flow to the eye and cause blindness. Does the filler last longer in this area than in the nasolabial area?

Answer: Under eye filler Filler injections under the eyes is generally quite safe. As with anything, there are rare risks. I use a blunt cannula for injection under the eye, which i feel is safer than sharp needle injections. The idea is that you are less likely to inadvertently inject into a vessel using a blunt cannula. Filler under the eyes can last quite a while, as in up to a year or more. I would definitely only ever have hyaluronic acid injected, ie Restylane, and not other things like Radiesse.

Answer: How safe is it to get fillers in the tear trough ? It’s very safe to get fillers in the tear trough region of the face. The risk that exists is inadvertently injecting fillers into blood vessels that exist in the tear trough area. A well trained cosmetic injector will easily avoid this complication by either using a cannula or will use a needle and take the necessary precautions to avoid intravascular injections. How long a filler will last doesn’t depend on where on the face it was injected but what kind of filler was used.Hope this helps
