Is Liposuction okay w/o post op meds (steroid-prednisone) ??

It is absolutely ok NOT to take steroids after liposuction.  I would venture to say a large population if not the majority of surgeons do not employ this practice as part of their standard postoperative regimen.  Other techniques such as compression garments, massage, and even diuretics can be used.  Good luck!

Yes, it is OK to NOT take steroids after liposuction.  Most doctors wouldn't prescribe steroids for a liposuction case anyway.  Be sure to wear your compression garment, and otherwise follow the instructions of your doctor.  Best of luck!

I do not use steroids post operative liposuction.  Massage, hyperbaric oxygen, oral diuretics and compression and RF treatments like venus legacy or velashape all help decrease the swelling more quickly.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I personally have never prescribed oral steroids for liposuction patients. Not taking them after liposuction should be fine and has a matter of fact it's probably preferred.

I have never prescribed steroids for liposuction patients.  It's normal to have swelling for a couple of months after liposuction.  I advise my patients to avoid salty food, drink plenty of water, wear compression garment 24/7 and gently massage the swollen areas.  Occasionally I prescribe a diuretic is the swelling is really, really marked.Prednisone is a very, very strong medication and patients can experience many side effects.  It sounds like your surgeon is okay with you not taking it so that would also be my advice.  If you have been taking it, it would be a good idea to get off of it gradually.  Run this by your surgeon.
