I am scheduled to get an extended tummy tuck (with no muscle repair), lipo 360, as well as lipo on my upper back and chin in May. I am spending the first night after surgery in the hotel attached to the clinic with a PSW but otherwise will have little support. A family member has offered to check on me, but no one can stay with me 24/7. Will I be able to manage mostly on my own for the first week, or should I hire someone to be with me?
Answer: Mommy Makeover Thanks for your question! You will be sore and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. You may have post op appointments with your surgeon.. It may be a good idea to have someone helping you, especially the first week. Best wishes!

Answer: Post Surgery Care Thank you for sharing your upcoming procedure details. Given the extensive nature of the surgeries you're having, it's highly recommended to have someone with you, especially during the first few days post-op. While you may feel independent, there will be moments when you'll appreciate assistance, such as getting in and out of bed, preparing meals, or managing unexpected discomfort. It's essential for safety and recovery. If no family member can stay with you, consider hiring a professional or seeking post-operative care services.

Answer: Help Thanks for your question! I would advise that you have help for the first week. This is a rather daunting recovery for at least the first 4-5 days. Most people benefit from having a family member or other person with them. Good luck!

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear nicoleaegraham, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: You will need help Hi nicoleaegraham, An extended tummy tuck is a procedure that comes with many post-op restrictions. I would suggest that you clarify your postoperative restrictions with your plastic surgeon. I would suggest that either you find someone who can be with you most of the time for the first week, to assist you with day to day tasks and help you to avoid violating your postoperative restrictions, or you might consider rescheduling your surgery time to a time when you would have more support. Hope this helps. Best,Christopher Pannucci MDBoard Certified Plastic SurgeonPlastic Surgery NorthwestSpokane, Washington
