5'6, 195lbs, after TT will I be able to wear my current clothes & when will I need to have smaller clothes?

Everyone is different when it comes to clothing after surgery. Some people go down a few pant sizes and others remain the same size but their clothing simply fits much better. I would advise having very comfortable clothing options available for the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. I would not go shopping for new clothes until 2 months after surgery (giving time for swelling to go down)

Swelling can last for several months after surgery, therefore you may need to wait until it has subsided before wearing smaller clothing. This can be 6 months or more. Sometimes, this swelling can actually make you look bigger. Either way, looser clothing that’s easy to put on and take off is best.

It is best to use your current clothes for several weeks after surgery. At about 3 months after surgery, you may consider shoping for new clothes. Good luck.

In regards to you question about clothing, I would say that you will be able to wear your pre-op clothes after surgery. The fact that they may be a bit bigger on you may work to your benefit because it will probably be more comfortable for you. When it comes to when you can buy new clothes I would say that at the 6-8 week mark you will start to notice a decrease in your swelling that will continue to improve up until the 3 month mark. At 6-8 weeks you can consider buying new, smaller clothes but the 3 month mark is when you can really indulge and get your new wardrobe. I hope this helps

You may still be wearing the same clothes, especially if they are tight now. I would suggest avoiding buying any new clothes for at least 3 months to let most of the swelling subside. During this time, you might actually drop more weight.

No one can tell you if your dress size will change post abdominoplasty. Most commonly, clothes will fit you much better. I have had certain patients reduce their dresses by 2-3 sizes, but there is no guarantee. It all depends on your anatomy, the volume of fat in your sides and lower back, the looseness of your lower anterior abdomen and the level of plication (tightening) of the abdominal muscles.
Do not look at new clothes until at least 30 days postoperatively.

Comfort is key when considering your clothing choices after surgery. You will want to have loose clothing that is easy to put on and take off. Loose jogging pants and button up shirts are great. Swelling will last several weeks, but depending on the style you should be able to be in your regular clothes after 2-4 weeks. Good luck with surgery!

The impact of the procedure varies substantially from patient to patient in regards to overall size and how her clothing fits.
The procedure may not reduce your clothing size all that much.
Patients usually recognize when changes begin to slow down and stabilize, which is usually about six weeks after the procedure. Until then you’re probably good wearing clothes you’re already own.
