Thanks for your question. Azzalure and Botox are purified proteins derived from a bacteria, which when injected into a muscle temporarily stops the signal from the nerves to the muscle so it can stay relaxed for 3-5 months and then regain its normal activity. It does not travel in the body and is a local injection. Azzalure (dysport) which is available in Europe, contains in addition lactose which is derived from milk protein but is a purified form of the protein without any hormones. It may not be a good option for patients who are sensitive to lactose. Botox, on the other hand, does Not contain lactose and will be a safe option for lactose intolerant individuals. Hope that helps. Best, Dr Rosy Sandhu
The steroids you take for your Rheumatoid arthritis should not have any effect on your Botox or vice versa. Just let your provider know beforehand and you should have nothing to worry about.
Both Botox and Juvederm are safe for people with keloids, the risk of scarring is extremely minimal with both procedures. If you discuss this concern with your provider beforehand, you should have nothing to worry about.
