Are Botox and Juvederm safe for people with keloids?

While it technically may be possible for an injection to cause a keloid, I have never seen this happen.  I think this would be unlikely to occur on the face and I would use Botox and Juvederm on the face of a patient with a history of keloids on the body.  

Both Botox and Juvederm are safe for people with keloids, the risk of scarring is extremely minimal with both procedures.  If you discuss this concern with your provider beforehand, you should have nothing to worry about. 

The risk of you developing keloids from Botox or filler injections is very small.  The needles that are used for these treatments are very small and should not trigger the response to keloid.  As always, it is best to discuss your concerns with your injector before treatment.

Hello. Thank you for your question. The needles used to inject these products is very small. The chances of you getting a keloid scar are very small. If you were worried, you could go in and do a test spot to make sure nothing happens. 

I agree with most of the experts here; needles are small and these areas are not keloid prone.
For off label use and emerging use, you may wish to explore treating your existing keloids with Botox! Totally off label use, but has been described in a few publications, and not proven and accepted widely, Botox mixed with Kenalog is effective in treating keloids.  We have treated our patients with good success.  The mechanism of action is unknown and unproven.

You should be fine. The needle is extremely small for these injections. I have not ever seen a patient develop keloids after these injections in my own clinic. I would only use hyaluronic acid based filler. No biostimulatory fillers. 

The needle gauges are small so minimal trauma is caused during procedure, it would be very unlikely to keloid or scar from Juvederm or Botox injections. 
Be sure to research your injector for the safest and best treatment.
