Rash 5 days post op after breasts. Help me? (photo)

photograph. It is quite common to get a
rash after breast surgery and this may be related to the dressings used and, in
some cases can be due to a heat rash.
However, a rash can also be an underlying
sign of infection and I think it is important that you do see your plastic
surgeon to let him assess the area as you may need medication to reduce the
rash.



I hope it settles down
adequately and you are happy with your breast surgery. 

It looks as though you have had a reaction to the adhesive from the steri strips... It should resolve with topical treatment as prescribed by your surgeon.  You should be having frequent follow up visits with your surgeon to evalate this "rash" to make sure there is no other issue that might arise.  Best of luck.

It appears that you are having an allergic reaction to the Steri-strips or possibly some adhesive such as Mastisol or Benzoin.  The cortisone cream seems appropriate.  It would not be unreasonable to add an anti fungal medication because it may be related to moisture under the breasts or on the dressing.  Make sure you follow up with your plastic surgeon.

You have allergic reaction and should get better son. You should see your surgeon and may try oral steroids for short period.

Appears as a dermatitis type rash. Best to see a derm for an opinion for care of this issue and treatment.. 

Thank you for the photos though you did not indicate how post op you are.  You appear to have a contact dermatitis to something used.  Follow with your surgeon who appears to be managing things wellDr Corbin

It appears you are having an allergic reactyion .The reaction could be caused by a number of factors.

the fact that the rash is not only on your breast but also higher on your chest may indicate a drug allergy.  However if that is the case I would expect the Claritin and hydrocortisone to work fairly soon to resolve the rash.I am concerned about the appearance of your incision and the redness around the incision.  This could be the sign of an infection and it is very important that this be addressed immediately.  Please contact her plastic surgeon, insist on being seen and examined, and specifically asked the Dr. about the possibility of an infection in your incision.It is important that most infections become obvious at around 5-6 days postoperatively.
