Swollen lower back and neck after breast augmentation, 2 weeks p.o. Advice? (photos)

Question

I have swollen lower back and neck. My upper back hurts and I am 2 days post op breast Augmentation through nipple. I also have redness on the right side of my breast around the nipple. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question and photograph.  Your photograph indicates that you have an irritation or rash, perhaps from tape or the surgical bra and should be evaluated.  The neck pain and lower back pain may be a result of positioning during surgery but should be evaluated as well.  Best to return to your plastic surgeon for a follow-up.  Good luck.

You are best to run your concerns past your PS. You seem to have developed a rash that needs to be examined in person. The back pain etc may be related to positioning during surgery but best to be checked out by your PS.

Upper back pain could be attributed to the healing process or positioning, but I'm not sure about the lower back swelling.  The area on the breast looks like it may be a rash.  Best to check with your surgeon to determine how to proceed.

I would recommend seeing your plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation to further investigate the new redness involving your breast and swollen neck.  I can't really tell based on the photos what is going on.  Hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for your question and photo.  It's hard to tell from your photo what is going on , it almost looks like a rash.  I would let your PS know.   As far as swelling , I haven't heard of swelling in lower backs or necks, however, many patient's will complain of upper back pain , especially my very thin patient's.   Give it time and at least let your PS's office know about the redness.
