My eyelids constantly change size and shape?

Question

Sometimes my eyelids appear to be large and high, and other times my eyelids are small and low. The crease is only visible when the lids are high. It changes my eyeshape completely, eg. round to almond. I'm only 18, so aging isn't the issue. I've tried sleeping less during the day and more at night for a consistent sleeping pattern, but now only one eye is seemingly larger than the other (round). What is the problem, and how could it be fixed?

This could be due to muscular problems such as myaesthenia gravis. You mentioned less sleeping during the day. Do you feel tired frequently? I would suggest to discuss this with your doctor.

Dear Amanda, Given your age, it would be appropriate to seek out help from an Oculoplastic surgeon in your area. There is a condition known as Myasthenia Gravis that can cause variability to eyelid height. A specialist should be able to advise you on this.I hope this was helpful.

Thank you for sharing your case.  It sounds like this can be an annoying problem.  Sometimes, there are conditions related to the eyes or the muscles and nerves around the eyes that can make the shape and height of your eyelids to change.  I would start with taking some selfies throughout the day when you notice the change and bring the photos to your oculoplastic surgeon's office.  Try to her a log ofwhat you were doing when and before you noticed the change.  I'm sure that after your consultation you'll have a better idea about your condition and how it can be treated.  Good luck!

It is not normal for your eyelids to change height and shape during the day and having one eye bulging could be a sign of medical problem. I recommend you see an Oculoplastic Surgeon for an evaluation and possible treatment.
