I had lipo suction under my chin exactly one year ago. I gained 10 pounds and it almost looks worse than it did if I had gained this 10 pounds before my surgery. My question is, if I go back to post op weight will I look the way I used to or did I gain stubborn fat all over again?

Answer: Under chin lipo Dear Friendly844647, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Gaining 10 pounds 10 pound weight gain is enough to have a substantial difference on both the body and face. One year it’s also enough to add one extra year to facial aging. Weight fluctuations also can cause skin laxity in some individuals and it’s not healthy or recommended. Liposuction creates a permanent new fat distribution and gaining or losing weight should not change that fat distribution. There are other variables that contribute to someone’s appearance and these slowly change over time or can be influenced by weight fluctuations. I suggest you focus on losing the weight you have gained. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
