How common is it for someone in their early 30s to undergo surgery to lift already (genetically) sagging tissues? I am 30 years old and have relatively good bone structure, but also naturally droopy cheeks lending to jowls and a hollowing under eye area. This has been bothering me for a few years now, though I look after myself and have good skin etc. I am not interested in threads or fillers and would prefer to invest in something that will last a long time and look natural
Answer: Not Common Although one can never say never, it is very uncommon for a patient to have indications that a facelift will address in their 30's. Surgery doesn't stop aging, but can allay the aging signs it causes. It is not to be used as a prophylactic measure.

Answer: Preventative Facelift Hello, hope you are well. The concept/terminology of a "preventative" facelift is misguided. It is very uncommon for someone in their early 30s to undergo a conventional facelift for aging changes. Short scar 'facelifts' are more common, but can be problematic in their own right. On the other hand, many people may start to notice mild skin laxity in the lower face and neck at your age. Luckily, newer minimally-invasive technologies exist for skin/soft tissue tightening that stimulate collagen and elastin formation and are an effective treatment for early aging changes. So you can consider a non-surgical facelift with these modalities (FaceTite, for example). Although you could likely find a surgeon to perform a facelift for you if you look around enough, it is unlikely to be the best option for your face. Best,Dr. Tower

Answer: Preventative Facelift Hello @Pioneering107570, thank you for your question. It's quite uncommon for someone in their early 30s to seek a preventative facelift. A facelift is traditionally a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the face by addressing sagging skin, deep folds and repositioning the tissues associated with the passage of time most likely. It is always advisable to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate your skin type and concerns and recommend the most appropriate treatments for your age and goals. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Facelift The preventative facelift. Now why didn’t I think of that? But it’s becoming more and more mainstream for surgeons to promote it as a way of slowing down facial aging before it starts. I don’t do it but there are plenty of surgeons out there who do

Answer: Facelift in your 30's In my opinion, the ideal age to undergo a facelift is when the patient is in their early-to-mid 50's as opposed to waiting until they are in their 60's or older when the signs of aging are more noticeable. When undergoing a facelift early on, you will look better and can avoid additional facial aging. Undergoing a facelift in your 30's is young, however it is not uncommon to have genetic heaviness which can take away from your natural features. In this specific circumstance, it is not unreasonable to undergo a facelift in your 30's in order to lift the genetically redundant skin and tissue in order to improve your appearance. Hollowing under the eyes is extremely common in your 30's. The ideal treatment for this is fat grafting to the lower eyelids. In my opinion, fat grafting is superior to filler since it will last in your body for years opposed to months (the standard longevity of facial filler is up to 18 months with most fillers only lasting 9 months to a year) and it has a much more natural appearance in this particular region of the face. Surgical "tweakments" are extremely popular in my office and among individuals in their 30's. I have seen an influx of 30-year-olds wanting to rejuvenate and refresh their appearance without having to undergo a more in-depth surgical procedure. In-office upper blepharoplasty's (eyelid lifts), in-office brow lifts and in-office lip lifts have become largely popular among patients I see who are in their 30's. These are procedures I perform in the office under local anesthesia.
