Nine days ago I had chin/neck lipo with fat graft transfer to both temples to help with acne scars. The plastic surgeon said it could take up to a year to see results. Why is this? Is there a chance I might see results sooner?

My recommendation is that you don't do anything right now. The fat that's there will settle out, smooth out, and even out, all on its own. Remember, only about 50-60% of the fat that was injected will survive. So, just be patient and let the swelling go down and give it time....
How much was injected and the absorption rate would factor into this. You can liposuction the lips after about 3 months. Some patients heal more slowly and you may still be experiencing some swelling. It is hard to tell by the photo if one side has absorbed more or more quickly than the oth...
