How long to see results from fat transfer to acne-scarred temple area?

Nine days ago I had chin/neck lipo with fat graft transfer to both temples to help with acne scars. The plastic surgeon said it could take up to a year to see results. Why is this? Is there a chance I might see results sooner?

You most likely have swelling after your procedure, which can last 3-6 months. I recommend prp and sculptra injections after fat transfer to help maintain results.  It takes time to see the ultimate outcome.  Acne scarring needs lasers, microneedling, fillers, and subcision for the best outcomes.  See an expert. I think that you can see the results rathe quickly but there will be a lot of swelling and this can take 6-8 weeks for most of it to settle down.

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. The best answer is that fat grafting works by multiple mechanisms. The first is by just adding bulk to the grafted area. But more importantly, the stem cells transferred with the fat graft stimulate collagen formation and healing of the grafted area. This usually takes 6 - 12 months to provide its full results.
