Performed by a face specialist. The doctor told me that he sewed my platysma muscles together, as well as cut out a large fat pad. I still have a large double chin, and am worried that this will not go away. I know it is early days yet, but I have seen no improvement since day one. Also, if it will not go away on its own, are there any corrective procedures to help recitfy it? Thank you so much for any insight you can offer! Greatly appreciated!
Answer: Give it time Swelling after facial surgery can take many months to resolve. Sometimes gentle massage to the area can be helpful, but generally it just takes time to improve. This area is relatively easy to address if you ultimately do not get the result you are looking for, but I would recommend waiting at least 4-6 months before considering any further intervention. All the best,

Answer: Neck concerns congratulations on having a facial rejuvenation surgery. I agree that you are early in the postoperative period, but it would be important for you to revisit your facial specialist to find out if this "bulge" is anticipated for the procedure he/she performed. A facelift and platysmaplasty typically results in a more contoured neck even at 6 weeks. You may have a small fluid collection which would benefit from aspiration, or you may have a localized area of excess tissue swelling that may benefit from external compression. Alternatively, you may simply have an under corrected neck. All scenarios are treatable. The picture alone is not enough to determine the best plan moving forward. An examination by your surgeon will be best.

Answer: Swelling Under Chin After Face and Neck Lift I know it is hard to be patient, but it can take many months for all of the swelling to resolve. If after 6 months you still do not see improvement, there are office procedures that can be done. However, be sure to discuss your concerns with your surgeon who knows you best. Good luck!

Answer: Facelift healing process Hello, Thank you for your picture. If you have any questions, you should speak with your surgeon. If you were my patient, I would suggest a neck strap to be worn to help reduce the swelling you are concerned about under your neck. Not all patients heal the same and not all facelifts are the same. You can look at the healing process of a patient of mine - Case # 0033 in the link provided below. Hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr K

Answer: Swelling You had a comprehensive neck lift based on the fact that your platysma was sutured together. It is possible some residual preplatysmal fat was left behind and sometimes additional liposuction can correct this. The other issue is if your submaxillary glands are exposed and bulging. These would require a neck lift revision to correct.

Answer: Neck fullness At 7 weeks you are still very swollen. Give yourself ample time to heal and be patient. Remember, that skin quality plays a large role in facelift results and this can happen even when everything is done "right"
