Neck/lower face lift 16 mo ago. See pics. Also dents in my cheek w/facial movement and small bumps(pimple size). I have burning in that area at times. Tight choking feeling on the left side of throat and pulling under chin. Had botox to jaw, sternomastiod and traps for spasms due to cervical neck problems 3 1/2 months ago. (had in the past before surgery...surgeon knew) After Botox I now get burning in sides of face and tightness under chin and throat is worse. Can this be fixed without surgery
Answer: Facelift results I seems that the skin has wrapped itself very tightly to the underlying facial muscles. Have your surgeon consider injecting dilute kenalog along with massages to see if the scaring can be broken or minimized.

Answer: Scarring after face lift and neck lift surgery I am sorry you are experiencing such significant post operative discomfort. It appears that you have some issues with your skin adhering very tightly to the underlying muscles of the neck and face. I am not certain that something was not put into your neck in the surgeon's attempt to create a dramatic chin to neck transition. I do not now of any non surgical intervention that is likely going to remedy your current situation. I would be extremely cautious in having revision face and neck surgery but given the current state, lysis of some of the scarring and adhesions that you have along your neck and sub mental region may relieve you of the choking sensation and spasms you are currently experiencing.

Answer: Facelift question, suboptimal result I'm sorry you are having such trouble after facelift surgery. Its difficult to comment on your case without knowing what was encountered by your surgeon and what challenges they may have faced. It appears as if you have persistent fat and subcutaneous scar tissue resulting in a less than optimal outcome. You also look as if you may have divergence of your platysma muscle in the midline. A revision procedure will be needed. Likely with a repeat lift, fat redistribution and platysma muscle plication you can improve your result. Best to speak to your surgeon and possibly seek a second opinion before you proceed with another operation.

Answer: Disappointing results Thank you for your question and photos. It appears that you have some irregularity and scar tissue that has distorted the contour of your cheek and under your chin. It is difficult to say what it is from - your surgeon knows exactly what they did during the procedure and what the skin was like preoperatively. I would visit with your surgeon to review these issues and get their input. At this point you should be well healed and the results will be generally stable. Good luck, Christopher Chang, MD Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia
