Hello, I am interested in getting chin and neck lipo. I have consulted with a few surgeons and have been told I'm an excellent candidate who will likely get great results. Including asking surgeons on here before. I see surgeons have different preference on lipo type. Laser, vacuum suction, etc. What is best? Why? What difference will the different types provide? Does downtime vary? Cost? Risk? Thank you!

Answer: Lipo and chin All types of liposuction work very well under the chin. The standard SAL (suction assisted liposuction) using the smallest cannula possible (in my practice a 2 mm cannula) produces the smoothest results. Downtime is typically minimal - can have the procedure on a Friday and be at work on Monday

Answer: What is the best liposuction type for chin and neck It is important to know that there are two compartments of fat in the neck located above and below the platysma muscle. Liposuction can remove the fatty deposits above the platysma muscle, however surgery is required to remove deposits underneath the muscle. Once the fatty deposits are removed from underneath the platysma muscle, a platysma plasty is performed which significantly increases the jaw/ neck line. It's very important to evaluate the neck in person to determine the extent of fatty deposits in the neck and design of appropriate procedure to address removal. No matter what Technique is performed, anticipate visible bruising and swelling for approximately two weeks.
