I've seen 2 doctors a while ago. They both said I have very thick skin and my cartilage is soft. I want the tip of my nose to be thin, as well as my nostrils. I look at it everyday and just hate it. I can't accept it and it's become my biggest insecurity. I've accepted the fact that I will never have a cute button nose. Overall, I just want a small, natural looking, feminine nose. I don't know if that's still asking for too much. Thank you for your time.
Answer: Rhinoplasty for latina noses Your nose lacks projection and has indistinct tip definition. You state that your nasal skin is thick - you are correct in thinking that changes made to the nasal tip may be partially masked by thick nasal skin. A reasonable rhinoplasty result could be created with the use of tip refining cartilage grafts.

Answer: I'm Latina and my nose is thick, will Rhinoplasty even make a difference? The areas that concern you can be realistically improved with an artistically performed rhinoplasty. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive ethnic rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Rhinoplasty for the thick-skinned nose. A rhinoplasty done by a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon can give you a more attractive and feminine nose. The tip can be further projected while removing the tissue between the skin and the cartilage so that this is much thinner. See a very experienced surgeon who does natural rhinoplasty for the best results. Look at before and after photographs and meet with patients who have noses like yours.

Answer: Ethnic rhinoplasty with thick skin I have so many happy Latina rhinoplasty patients despite the difficulties you have mentioned. Selfies on social media increase patients dissatisfaction with a nose that appears too large for their face. Even with thick skin, I use advanced techniques to reshape the skeleton and soft tissue of the nose that will significantly narrow the width of the tip and nostrils while creating a better defined profile. Your nose would actually have better support than before, and look better than preop after just 2 weeks. It will take at least 3 months for most of the swelling to resolve. Be sure to find a rhinoplasty expert that you like and share a common vision with.
