Can I get IPL if I am taking Prednisone?

The short answer is that no one know for sure but the general recommendation from me would be no.  Lupus generally is an inflammatory disorder and in general the patient skin is more sensitive than usual.  They can easily break out into rashes and often time there is no stressor but...

Lasers and fillers do not effect your IV or IM therapy but you need a well trained laser physician as you are asian skin type and at more risk for complications post IPL and laser if not done properly.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thanks for your question. I'd wait. Prednisone can slow down your healing from any procedure. Some drugs increase your sensitivity to light, including some antibiotics. Best to wait a couple of weeks before having a cosmetic treatment.

IPL is not the best option for hair removal and I would suggest a diode, yag, or alexandrite laser for this.  Best, Dr. Emer.
